As you all know by now,
the Tui is a New Zealand endemic and a member of the honeyeater
family of birds, hence its name in French: Méliphage
tui. I like the Tui for the white plumes on its breast, which caused
the early British settlers to call it Parson Bird; for its acrobatic
way of feeding, typical of honeyeaters; and for its vocalisations,
beautifully captured in the accompanying video. I guess I also like
it because I have seen one and you haven't!
