It's a K reg Discovery, which makes it goodness knows how many years old, but it is a wonderful vehicle for off-road work. I regularly go round our local fens monitoring wildlife, mostly birds and insects. The only problem is that the fen droves (lanes) are mostly of clay, and they become very difficult in wet weather: the clay fills the tread of the tyres in no time and then my vehicle and I start "skating". It's exhilarating, and sometimes scary if the drove runs alongside a dyke or drain (a few people drown every year), but mostly I don't ride the droves in the wintertime because it churns them up so much, leaving deep ruts and eventually making them impassible even in the dry season.
