Teacher, sort of, vintage 1961

A candid shot of me during my brief time as a secondary school teacher. Taken a mon insu by one of the bolder boys in the class, the picture demonstrates a number of things a teacher shouldn't do.
1
Sitting at the desk instead of standing, thereby signalling a lack of energy. Come on, man, get up, move, show the boys you want action, response.
2
Looking at the ceiling instead of at the boys. It signals a lack of interest in them, or an unwarranted confidence that they will not seize the opportunity to be wicked
3
Leaving the blackboard unwiped from the previous lesson, causing confusion. More than that, it signals the teacher's laziness and lack of respect for proper procedure.

Note, too, the hand gripping the desk, suggesting a fear that I might be abducted at any moment.

As you can imagine, my pupils appreciated my teaching style very much.

Envoi: I had forgotten how pretty I was before I acquired a beard and unacquired most of my hair.

Merhaba!
From 1989 to 2002, I visited Turkey many times, running workshops in various universities, including Bilkent and Bashkent in Ankara. I also did lecture tours to various Turkish cities. Not surprisingly, I fell in love with your beautiful language as well as the people who speak it!
